Too often confirmation has been downgraded to the role of a checkpoint along the faith journey. The Confirm program reclaims confirmation as the first step on a journey that leads to a mature, adult faith. Confirm treats confirmation as more than a decision. Instead, it is the beginning of a conversation about what it means to be a Christian, living out your faith, your commitment, and God’s call.
With flexible and easy-to-understand materials, Confirm provides students with the basic beliefs of a theologically sound, United Methodist faith while engaging them in creative and thought-provoking activities to help them internalize what they’ve learned. Confirm also embraces the importance of community in the journey of faith development.
Parents of 6-8th grade students are invited to an orientation meeting on Wednesday, September 11, beginning at 6:30 pm. There is a Wednesday night meal from 6-6:30 pm, and all are welcome, just RSVP when you register.
What to Expect?
Confirmation meets each Wednesday beginning September 18, from 6:30-8:00 pm. All students grades 6-12 are invited to share in a group meal from 6:00-6:30 pm. The groups will then split with 6-8th heading to the parsonage for confirmation and the 9-12th staying at the church for small group time. 6-8th grade students who have been confirmed can join in the Rise youth group activities. Also, senior high students who have not been confirmed are welcome to attend confirmation, regardless of grade level. Pastor Matt will be leading confirmation along with parent co-leader Savannah Coleman.
Please contact Pastor Matt if you have any questions.
