Serve in our community

“doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all people”

Serve in Greater Mankato!

We understand that our church is here not for us, but for the community. As United Methodists we strive to heed the lessons of John Wesley: to live lovingly and justly as servants of Christ by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and caring for the stranger. We have partnered with the following non-profit organizations in our community who are living this mission and we try to support them in any way we can.

Discreetly provides packs of child-friendly food to elementary students to sustain them on the weekends and on school breaks. Hilltop has supported the Backpack Food Program since 2010, providing over $26,000 in funding. Most of the funds are received through sales from our Annual Christmas Festival, which is held the first Saturday in December. We also collect food items and cash during in the Fall.

The Mankato Salvation Army assists area residents with a wide range of basic needs services, including a midday meal program. Help is provided to anyone in need without discrimination. Hilltop serves a noon meal at the Salvation Army on Sundays throughout the year. It is a rewarding experience to prepare and serve a meal to those in need. The Emergency Community Help Organization (ECHO) provides emergency food assistance to people in Blue Earth County and North Mankato. Hilltop collects non-perishable food donations monthly. Pick up a "Green Bag" to fill with groceries and return it on the third Sunday of each month. Hilltop also collects monetary donations for ECHO in the offering plate. Connections Ministry provides low barrier emergency shelter for men, women, and families experiencing homelessness.

The shelter is open from 6pm-8am daily,

serving a meal nightly. Volunteer opportunities include Morning Greeter (Daily 6:45 am-8:30 am) or bringing and/or serving meals (Daily 5:45 pm-7:30 pm).
