SERVE THE COMMUNITY
“doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all people”
Serve in Greater Mankato!
There is a basic understanding that the church is here not for church members, but for the community. United Methodists strive to heed the lessons of John Wesley: to live lovingly and justly as servants of Christ by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and caring for the stranger. Hilltop partners with the following non-profit organizations in the community who are living this mission.
Discreetly provides packs of child-friendly food to elementary students to sustain them on the weekends and on school breaks. Hilltop has supported the Backpack Food Program since 2010, providing over $26,000 in funding.
The Mankato Salvation Army assists area residents with a wide range of basic needs services, including a midday meal program. Help is provided to anyone in need without discrimination. Hilltop provides a noon meal at the Salvation Army on Sundays throughout the year.
The Emergency Community Help Organization provides emergency food assistance to people in Blue Earth County and North Mankato. Hilltop collects non-perishable food donations monthly. Pick up a "Green Bag" on the third Sunday of each month, fill with groceries and return the next week.
Connections Ministry provides low barrier emergency shelter for men, women, and families experiencing homelessness.
